Tim Browning Memorial Scholarship
Tim was born in San Jose, Ca. in 1964. He graduated from Los Gatos High School in 1982 and went on to earn a B.S. in Finance from San Jose State University and a MBA from the University of Phoenix. He worked for the University of Phoenix for 19 years and then Grand Canyon University for 3 years. Tim was a proud father, patient mentor, dedicated teacher and avid sports enthusiast.
Tim Browning spent most of this professional career in secondary education and came from a family of teachers. He devoted many years to assisting students in receiving higher education, and in his honor, his family would like to continue this assistance.
The loss of a parent can create much adversity and suffering in a young person’s life.
This scholarship is for undergraduate students who have lost one or both parents and is established to help hard-working and deserving students triumph over loss by giving hope for their future and some relief from financial hardship.
Scholarship amount: $1,000.
Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time university students
Applicants must have a minimum incoming or continuing GPA of 3.0 or higher
Applicants must write a 1-2 page essay describing how the loss of a parent impacted their life and their career aspirations
In cases where more than one student applies, equal consideration will be given to essays, financial needs, GPA, and extracurricular activities. Eligibility and scholarship recipients will be determined by the LEO Foundation Scholarship Committee.
Scholarships will be awarded in spring 2024 for the 2024/2025 academic year. Scholarship recipients must acknowledge their award in the form of an email thank you within three weeks of notification to firstname.lastname@example.org.
